Hi all. Just been on holiday to the South of England and while there bought a collection of coins from an antique shop. The collection is mainly Roman and Greek plus a few others. I have identified and put away all the late Roman (3rd & 4th Century) but have quite a few earlier ones that I am struggling with. I have taken pictures of most of them and, if it's ok, will post a few a week here for help. This one is silver, weight is 13.96 grams and measures 26 mm. Coin is better in hand than the photos suggest! Thank you. Just found it, Syria: Seleucis and Pieria. AR Tetradrachm. Augustus. City Goddess seated on rock, holding palm branch: River God Orontes swimming right at her feet. Edited by MetDet71 02/14/2023 09:29 am

Thanks again Palouche. How are you finding these so quickly? Is it just that you know the portraits or just experience? I am used to the later stuff and these are quite 'new' to me but when I saw them I had to have them. Coin number 4. Weight is 9.53 and measures 24mm.

Philip I from Antioch Pisidia..I'll let you find the exact type...
Nice coin!..I just recognise the portrait, probably because of years of searching and things just stick? Once I have an idea as to the owner of the portrait it's easy to search for the type with a few key words..
I must admit so far you've shown a really nice group of coins.....Paul

Thanks Paul. I've managed to id a few myself looking at romancoin.info, and checking out the different portraits then looking on vcoins. Coin number 5. Weight is 7.42 grams and measures 23mm. Is it ok for me to keep listing them in one thread or should I be listing them separately?

Bit of a change...This one is Indo-Skythian. Probably Azes II with Zeus reverse? The penultimate looks close..But this isn't my collecting area...Hopefully gives you a good direction to search in. https://coinindia.com/galleries-azes2.html

Finished going through the collection and have identified what I can, there are about 25 I am stuck on. I don't expect to have them all identified for me, I would just like a point in the right direction if that's ok please. This one I have searched for in Sear's Greek Imperial Coins, spotted one that was close but no cigar. Weight is 15.71 grams Measures 25 mm Thank you.
