Bought this coin from a notable seller on ebay.
His response to the fact the coin had a dirty great big fingerprint on it was ...... must have come from the RAM as I wear soft cotton gloves when I extract all coins from the sets....
Any body ever seen a fingerprint mark on an uncirculated coin in a mint set?
I highly doubt it.
Cost me little money but the fact he won't own up to it is disappointing.

Our daughter pointed out to a dealer at a Melbourne ANDA fair a few years ago that the 2004 Proof set had a finger print on one of the coins and it was still a sealed package.
His responses was it was done at the RAM when they put it together.
So yes you can have fingerprints on the coins in brand new packaging.
RAM have no quality control.

I have one too. My 2012 C red poppy $2 on a PNC.
Only a slight finger print on the obverse.
I bought it new from the post office and noticed it when I got home.
Only one they had, so kept it anyway.

Thanks for your input triggersmob, as the RAM do not actually sell pnc's and they are open to contamination as they are not sealed at all ,it could happen to them I suppose.
How coins are put into uncirculated, proof, carded, capsuples, etc I do not know but surely there is some form of quality control as to the handling of coins.
Photos are of course a must in proving your statements, otherwise it is hearsay.

The dealer probably didn't notice the print and shipped it to you. I'd return it. I recently extracted this 50 cent coin from a sealed set (it's one of my favorite designs) and it wasn't easy.

This PNC had the coin sealed in a plastic case and then the whole envelope was sealed in a plastic sleeve. So it was well and truly sealed.

You are correct triggersmob, the coin is capsulated inside the pnc.
I had to open up mine to have a look.

I knew it was, because I took mine out when I bought it and put the coin in a 2x2. I don't trust the original packaging.

I prefer key lime pie.
Mine is 1927 / 20000, so only about 80 from yours.
