I found it in the original link and my first thought was that it's too small to be the CC. There are many good images of these on Heritage. It's fun to speculate on what it really is. Many of them have a distinctly tall oval shape, similar to the O in GOD on the obverse, or a flipped G. I'm not saying that's what it is of course, just noted the perceived similarity.
