I was looking through my quarters and I found two of these quarters with extra metal in the tree. The second pic shows a normal quarter. This is in the large tree on the right side.

Not an error, looks like a die chip.
Please do not use screen shots, they are too pixilated to see the detail.
Also a photo of the complete coin should accompany any question.

How can you tell? at this zoom level it all looks the same.. A full coin image would be nice to compare to as well.

Cud errors are on the outside edge of the die. These have premiums for them as they are end of life dies. (Limited number of these will be struck) Other die events are not a premium for these coins. When hundreds of thousands of these coins are struck they are the normal coins as the die age.
