As a collector of means by no modest means, there are certain album "holes" that bug me.

For example, the 1922 "no D" and 1955 double-die Lincoln cents, which I know I've seen other people complain about as well. I guess they're essentially die types like the Small/Large dates of other years, but in my mind they're errors.

And, figuring that one error is as good as the next, I filled both slots with copper planchets.

I also recall at one time having a Liberty nickel folder that included a spot for a 1913

So what other spots annoy you, and do you do anything to "solve" them?

The 1922D "Plain" hole in my Dansco really bothers me (luckily it does not have a hole for the 1955-DDO). I might end up putting a "weak D" in the 1922 hole as a protest.

My Indian Head cents, Buffalo nickels, and Winged Liberty (Mercury) Dimes are in a custom Dansco album (blank cent, nickel, and dime pages), so no over-date, three legged, or micro mint mark craziness to get in my way!

It is a loosing battle but why not contact the manufacturers of those albums and complain to them. I use Whitman Albums and I've tried contacting Whitman for many, many, many years about the stupidity of some of those holes. I have an old album that has a hole for the 1913 Liberty Head Nickel. None at any coin shows I've been to yet. All my Mercury dime ones have those slots for 1942/41 and 42D/41 and micro S. And you missed the slots for the 72 and 95 double dies, all the 70S's, and way to many 60's. Some may be normal but not all those dumb ones. My Liberty Head Dime Albums have holes for the 94S and not many of those in change you know.
I don't think it would do any good but what if everyone here sent one big letter of complaint to Dansco, Whitman, etc.?

OH, I missed mentioning the Indian Head/Buffalo Nickels. My Whitman has holes for 18D/17 and a 3 legged Buffalo.

I couldn't help but notice that in the Littleton Coin folder for Mercury dimes, the "1916-D" hole is not fully punched out like the other holes, an insert with the word 'rare' is in the hole.

It was made so that you could punch out the insert, but this was a nice 'common sense' acknowledgment by Littleton Coin that not very many people would insert a 1916-D Dime into that space, even if they had one....

Perhaps there's a market for coin-sized copper/cupro-nickel/silver "Yeah, Right!" tokens to fill those ridiculous album holes....

I have still more than just a few holes left in most of my coin folders, so the holes don't bother me yet. But, I know the time will come when those are the only holes left. So, I decided to try and get copy coins for them if they make that copy for that peticular year.
