Hello. Sorry for necroposting. I've been sitting on the same collection of medals for quite some time and finally decided to attempt to do some research. The typical generic google image search terms like "Franklin mint egypt medal" etc only gave this thread as the only somewhat relevant result, but I see that it never came to a conclusion so I'm asking as well what even is this?

It does have some weight to it so I suspect it might be silver and gilded silver, but not sure. I guess they would have marked it some way if it was, but I could be wrong.

Clearly the packaging was meant to be opened for the medals to be put into an album, a case or a tray of some sort. Furthermore the fact that the OP was located in Brazil and me in Norway could indicate that this collection was meant for the international market and not distributed in the US. I have also gone through the entire worthpoint catalog and not found a single result.

I searched around and it appears these are backgammon pieces/men/checkers that were meant to go with a board which I guess was also sold by the Franklin Mint at the same time (1988?). There are a few of the pieces for sale on ebay.

The Franklin Mint used to sell coins that I believe they minted themselves (commemoratives, etc.) but I think they sell other things these days. Those are probably gold and silver plated.

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the pointer.
The packaging is identical to the backgammon pieces. A more specific worthpoint search revealed a listing for "Treasures of Tutankhamun" which is what this is. Gold and silver plated bronze.
There are at least 2 series of these backgammon pieces. Treasures of Tutankhamun and Excalibur.
