Reading a previous thread about a X suffix. Looking through bills this week was the first time I ever even looked at the suffix.

1) Is an S worth anything? If not at what suffix should I keep? Is there a cut-off? I found an old thread here from like 2010 where someone had a Benjamin that was a Y. Would appreciate any thoughts.

first, about 100 million notes are printed with the A suffix, then 100 million more with the B suffix, etc.

when a new series starts, the suffix is restarted at A, that means it's uncommon to reach the latter letters of the alphabet

the last suffix letter of a series might be printed in less than 100 million quantity, in which case it can become more sought after

The BEP printed 96M of the 2013 $1 L-S block notes and they went on to also print 96M L-T block notes. The 2013 $1 L-U block would be, in my opinion the winning ticket with it being the last block printed, and the BEP only printed 19.2M of these.

Plus, condition factors heavily into the value of modern notes and yours spent too much time in circulation to protect any collector value. Spend it.

I use the website uspapermoney.info for information similar to this. Here's a link to the page I used for reference.

I am putting together a set of $1 FRNs encompassing the Q to Y suffixes. While this S is a spender, they are not all that common. Only Series 2013, 2009, 2006, 2003A, 1999, 1995, 1988A and 1985 went Q and beyond for certain Federal Reserve districts.
