Did you weigh it by chance? The possibility of it being the rare copper, is extremely unlikely but I always weigh my '83's.

Still within spec.
The copy has to be running of the edge to have any premium.

yes I weighted the coin.I weight all my 82, 83 and 89D plus 90D I was more interested in the area from the nose down to the collar and above the date where it seems to be missing a layer

Please post a pic or two taken at an angle (not vertical). Consider changing the lighting a little too. Might show the feature in question a bit better.

looking for info on the 1983 penny with the area to the right of the nose and down to the collar and across to the rim above and above the date

Maybe it weighs 3.1 and someone added clear lamination to give it a little extra weight but added too much and had to remove some to get 3.1 grams. Fake attempt?
