Today I found this 1944-S nickel in a Fed box,but it appears as though it is not on the typical 35% silver planchet. When I first saw it, I thought it was a proof coin because it is so shiny, but it was a 1944-S. Then I thought it might be a Henning nickel, but it has the correct placement of the "S" mint mark on the reverse. It weighs 5.0g. Ive included pictures with a 1944-S 35% silver nickel for comparison. Can you help me identify what I've got here?
the shiny one was plated or maybe even chromed and is now chipping off. (please don't start multiple topics of the same coin. it gets confusing, and can have 2 different conversations where folks can miss some of if they don't see the duplicate topic.)
