I decided to try and hunt through my change and found a penny that is from 1958 isn't this kind of rare? Is it worth any value?

What makes you think it is rare?

It is a nice Wheat cent - the last year they were minted. It does not appear to have anything with it that would make it valuable though.

to the CCF Not rare there were 800,000,000 Ds minted that year. Now if you are thinking about the 58 p doubled die, then there are only about 3 or 4 known to exist.

Nice find, its getting much harder to find wheat cents in regular pocket change these days. For some reason they still are worth mostly around 3 cents or so unless they are in top condition such as when they came right out of a mint set, mint bag or roll or they have some special variety or error in general.
http://m.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices.htm or you can use a book like the Red Book for general info https://www.amazon.com/Guide-Book-U.../079484961X/ or strike it rich with pocket change 5th edition for varieties and errors to look for https://www.amazon.com/Strike-Rich-.../0593328604/

For example Stewart Blay's 1958 Lincoln Cent Doubled Die Obverse PCGS MS-65 RD CAC mentioned by cujohn sold for an unbelievable $1,136,250 with juice https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...r-Collection

to the CCF

No, not rare. It's a common date Wheat cent. Granted you won't find many still in circulation but that does not mean they are valuable.

Specific Coins are a Collectors Liking not a Value. This site isn't for people looking to make a quick buck. :D

I'll come back later to address NEWmr's comment later after I take time to formulate a response that won't incite more sarcasm.

(now where did I put those kid gloves?)

There are differences in coin collecting and wanting to make some money finding a specific coin, or for ongoing sales. A lot of people likely come to the forum for the first time after seeing a video or article on a high value coin (see the 1 million coin sale above for example) and gets them interested in coins where they may not otherwise be and thats a good thing. The best thing for them however is education such as pointing them to the Red Book and more often the strike it rich book to start (as that deals more with the varieties and errors and is a bit more user friendly than the websites at the beginning level)... to at least know what coins are worth looking for and wont waste their and others time since many are damaged, have environmental toning or a non valuable form of doubling in many cases. Its better for them to match it up to what is known to have some value. Hopefully some success will get them interested in other areas of coins.

I'm not aware of any CCF rule that forbids members from talking about making money selling their coins, flipping, etc.

A lot of newbies post pics of coins they hope/wonder/think are rare, valuable. Most are not, just circulated coins worth face value or a little more, they learn. In addition to posting here they could benefit from using their internet browser search line to look for answers, mintage, mint marks, etc., lots of info available online.
