Another recent pickup that was offered at MS-64. I have my doubts at that grade.

Looks like it might make MS-61.

I'll say MS-62.

I am sure the scratches on reverse thru UNITED set it back a bit for starters.
Thanks for having a look and opinion.

My mistake. Offered as MS-63. Here is the seller's notes.

I paid $100.00 for this coin in auction, no hands on examination.
Did I get burned once again?
My attraction to Peace dollars gets me every time.

the obv scratch in the left field and above the eye may be enough to details this coin.

AU details (scratched)

This coin should not receive a MS grade at a TPG - there are hairlines and signs of brief circulation on the obverse

AU55. Fairly hard hit on the bridge of the nose. The odd luster in the rays on the obverse along with the high number of nicks and dings throughout the hair makes me suspect this coin has had a quick dip job unless it's just a lighting issue. The coin may details out because of the scratches across from the forehead.

Full retail on a problem free 63 is $240, 61 is $120, I'd bid this coin around $60 max if the scratches aren't bad enough to details it.

Thanks paralyze. Just what I figured. Live and learn. Go to the show. Perhaps I could leave with a couple Maple Leafs for it and a couple 90% quarters for my stack. I need 6 Maples to top my next tube.

If it ends up being good in hand (63) then $100 is not a bad price.

On reflection and reading the above comments, I'll revise to AU-58.

It appears that all of the elements are there for grading of Peace dollars. However, your dealer or someone over graded this one. I'm more in the 58 range myself due to the obvious scratches...especially the one on her nose. I may stretch that to an MS 60. This date is relatively easy to find. She was also way overpriced.

Yes, we all live and learn when it comes to buying coins...been there, done that. Nothing to be ashamed of "DoWhat". In case you didn't take a loupe with you to the store, may I suggest that you always, always do and look very closely. Also, try to do some research before buying. I should talk...I've bought more coins on the spur of the moment than I should. Luckily, I haven't made any huge mistakes.

Keep buying and have fun!

Thanks Dsking. Not a local buy. I got caught up in a online auction which usually ends up fatal for me. It could have been worse.
At least I got out of it with 5 unciculated 2009 rolls of Lincolns EC for 8 bucks. One being first day of issue, 2 D rolls, 2P rolls. Going through the D rolls now. Not a total loss I guess.
