Hi I am wanting a hard plastic case that fits the mint soft packs that the uncirculated sets used to come in. The lenses for proof sets with the inserts removed are just a bit too small to fit in the edges of the cellophane. I have seen the First Commemorative Mint has a fancy display box for the early 1960's proof sets, which has the set in it's OGP inside a plastic lens, does anybody have one of these sets? Is it a larger size lens or is the extra cellophane just stuffed into it? It's the only lens I have seen to contain a mint set still intact.

Does anyone know of a place to get this size empty lens? I'd like to get one for every soft pack set I have (and plan to get) with the future plan of making a custom display board on which I could mount them, and have them easily flip front-to-back, but they need to be in rigid clear holders for my design to work.

Any help or ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.

You have to find the right size. But good starting point.

Yeah I have talked to Capital directly on the phone, they do not have one the correct size and would need an order of 12-15k to make it worthwhile for them to produce one. I am still waiting for a reply from First Commemorative Mint inquiring about the ones used in their sets.

UPDATE:

I have been emailing and on the phone with Ultra Pro, BCW, Whitman, Capital Plastics, and various coin/memorabilia shops trying to find a product the right size to hold these, even oversized ones like the Capital 5x7 meteor cases just without the insert, I can 3D print an insert, but not one place had anything helpful to offer. My only option would be to buy the 200 or so 5x7 meteor cases at full price and just throw away the inserts. * I will add that while most every place I called gave me a pretty quick "sorry can't help ya," the nice lady at BCW customer service did try to help me find workable solutions. *

Then First Commemorative Mint came through with a Win! A very helpful gentleman over there actually went through the leg work of putting together a supplemental order from their manufacturer of just the clear case from the 1961 proof set big decorative display that they sell. To be honest I figured this would be the least likely source to pan out, and I imagine my luck in this working out has a great deal to do with who answered that call. This was customer service above and beyond answering a few questions or placing a regular order so I have to give them a shout out.

It will be a while until they actually arrive but I will get some pics up when they do.
