one note on PCGS photograde. these will help someone new to the hobby to get into the ballpark for grade however you will find that quite a few coins will either fall in between grades, which makes it more difficult, and on top of that each series has its own nuances such as Buffalo nickles where the mints were mixing and matching dies, heavily polishing dies until some of the devices were almost polished off etc.

best advice would be, as a novice collector, would be not put out a larger sum of $$ unless you are sure of the grade. post here and let those well versed in the series to assess them. its not perfect but they can give you a better assessment than just using photograde.

also, dont assume if you are buying a slabbed coin that that is the true grade. the rule is "buy the coin, not the slab"

good luck and happy collecting

An update over two years later, finally got around to sending it in with some economy stuff. A lot of people would probably call that a waste of money but I couldn't be happier.
