well... thank you xshift. It really was a no brainer situation. We had just went out and bought the final cents she needed to complete her set, she came home and put them in her album. WHen she got tired she shoved the album under her bed. When she got up it was gone. After a couple days of watching her search her room over and over it became obvious it wasn't just "mislaid" The coins give me a lot of joy and I had some beauties but seeing her hurt lessen made my hurt worthwhile. sounds cheesy but I believe most of us here on the forum would probably do the same for a loved one. :)

and by the way matchbox..... when the time comes that you want to start your large cents off and running. If you can't find them here on the forum I can always pick up a batch at my coin store from the bin and ship them off to you. May not be rare or great beauties but would be an inexpensive start.

Melissadawn, Two things: How do I get the WHITE background? I can barely see my text, due to my vision problem. The other is the large cents. I have gotten quite a few as I have gathered the small cents. In fact, I have finally filled a folder. Now it is time to work on the large ones. I would be inferested in the older ones, (and a folder, too, for that matter). I don't have other than a plastic , clear holder that has about twenty coins. About 1910, back would be nice. I would love to find one of those "bins" of large cents! Let me know what you can do, and we can take it from there. Thanks, Dick

malissadawn, I am new and can't send you private email but thought I would still ask you in here. I would like your advice on coin stores as I am just starting out and would like to find a trustworthy source. Thank you

Hi Bargar, the best one I can recommend to you is Taylor's coins. I live to far to go there anymore but they are honest dealers, he undergrades a lot of the time to make sure you are being fairly treated, gives great discounts once he gets to know you, will let taxes pass some of the time and also has great bins of silver, large cents and more. Taylor's coins 1043 Avenue Road (416) 440-0379 http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=UTF-...lmd&z=14&t=mWhen I shopped from him it was at his flea market booth at Dixie mall which he has sadly retired. I am not sure if it's still him running the store or his son but either way it's a great family run business and the whole family is in love with coins so you know that they will treat the coins and you respectfully. Give them a try if you can. Also a place to keep in mind for supplies is UNITRADE assc. Check out their website. they have great albums, magnifiers, and all sorts of stuff and they give a 30% discount if you are not a dealer. http://www.unitradeassoc.com/Contact.htm99 Floral Parkway Toronto, ON, M6L 2C4 http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=UTF-...lmd&z=14&t=mI hope you are able to make some use out of this! :)

No problem, I am glad to help out. :)
By the way Bargar, when you do go there keep an eye out on what color the price is written in. I'm not sure he does this anymore but when I shopped from him if the price was highlighted on the 2x2 that meant it was on sale. I don't remember all the colors but I believe that if it was highlighted in pink that meant 50% off.

Sounds wonderful Bargar! I miss Charles greatly. I used to see them every single saturday and sunday. Missing usually only xmas weekend. Been a while since I could buy coins that way. I wish you luck in your purchases!
