DD, Your outlook is Sweet. I appreciate Collectors views.
Let's talk about your term, " Keep in mind however that sometimes when people post issues we also may be seeing a rare few when millions might be made, the few are just more visible these days due to videos or coin forums so it all depends how widespread an issue is. " I too realize that IF it were not for Coin Forums Like This, People would be some what Less Informed. I see People tend to use terms like " Population 3 in MS-66". To me, this is a Suspect Term, I believe collectors have Morphed into many, Many differing Paths, as far as Classic Coins, Classic Medals, Etc. Your Again 100 % Correct, The level of SLAB collectors, Their Labels, The KNOWN population reports, Etc Has evolved into a Label Chase that Has collectors Full Attention, I am told, and See Slabs bring Another level of Comfort or Assurance to the Coin Collecting Table. This is for Another Day, Collect what you Will........
Yes, these days due to videos and websites/forums you will generally learn about any issues which is good in that you are more informed and may even learn about errors/varieties as well, but since the negatives tend to post while the positives are typically quiet, you may sometimes get a wrong impression such as quality when there can be tens of thousands to millions of a coin produced.
Some collectors are chasing labels or slab grades due to registry sets or the rarity based on the population reports, while others may do so just because its what they chose to collect. Its good to see some people have bought a few interesting labels, but I completely understand those who dont. Population reports also can be a problem such as with moderns where its mostly that people dont send them in due to costs and where only the top pop is high value, so collecting modern top pops over time is a poor investment since usually others will show up in those grades or better reducing overall values as time goes by.
