Variety Vs Errors? Can Anyone Please Clarify The Difference?

JimmyD Bedrock of the Community Canada 21586 Posts	Posted 03/27/2023 07:18 am Too keep it simple without going into too much detail, A variety is a difference in the striking dies. Things like a Double Die, Repunched Dates, different fonts in the same year are varieties. For example the 1966 Dollar Large Bead and Small Bead are varieties. An error is usually a one time event that occurs during the striking of the coins so there are only certain things that can be a true error. .An example would be an off centre strike as this happened when the coin was struck.
