You do have to ask yourself the question as to where an 'A' on the obverse could come from, when there is no 'A' in any of the devices on the obverse of the coin to make it. I just would call it random zinc bubbles under the copper plating.

That is the gutter area of the die. The step down on off centers will show this lower area on the outside edge of the dies:

Thus when this is not in the collar, the coin will show show the edge of the die making these lines until the step down. Because this was a 50% off center you will see this stronger with the striation lines. On the smaller/large off centers you will see the step down areas:

Note on this one the edge is showing a different fold on one side of the strike?

So when a coin is struck off center, that area where the step down can be seen. Thus angle of the strike on your coin, left these die striation lines from that area of the die I refer to as the gutter, that forms the rim area on the coins in the collar on a normal strike coin. That is what you are seeing on your coin. The striation lines during the strike.

My question here it is why I see on the reverse on the strike side rim. I look at more then 20 off center and no cent has milling remains after strike? Bizarre
