1939 No Mint Mark And 2004 D BU Nickels, Found In Circulation

Both have a similar yet different gold tone. On the 1939, which is excellent condition for it's age, it seems to come from within. The 2004 may be one of the "brass tone" shallower color as someone mentioned in another thread in the Error forum which corrode easily.

The 1939-P looks like it was gold plated or painted in the past.
