I'm a novice, but I don't think its the zinc rot around the devices I'm used to seeing. It's like a smoothe indentation staring at the bridge of the nose and tracing down up to the nostril area. It's deepest at the tip of the know. Tried the variety sites to no avail. Thanks for any input.

In my opinion, it is a lighting issue in your pics, accentuated by the channeling, that was common during this era.

This it is not doubling. Is more from photos over the capsule or slab. Light affect in 90% of the time. MAKE was right.

Err ref has actually helped the most but it tough when you don't know the terms to search.

@ ComeHonor716

It is not for the newbies (I hate tis appellative). It is for learning. Your coin is not the what you think before. But still be a very nice proof like 44 coin. For this one I will go 64 to 65. The problem it is no coin was attributed yet PL and in 1944 was no proof done. I say this by the photos provided. In the hand is other story. Nice coin.

Lighting angles make it difficult to evaluate this.

@silviosi I'd still like to get you one of the VDBV pennies to check out. Just email me through here and we'll figure out postage and you can keep the coin.

Coin frog I'm new to the photo coin game and trying my best to experiment. What would you suggest lighting wise. I used a led with tissue paper to dampen and a ring light held at various awkward angles.
