My 1918 one cent Canadian coin has what appears to be a "Dot" between the numbers 1 and 8. Size of the dot appears identical to the dots making up the inner ring circle. Could this be a misplaced dot from the circle which moved inward? Haven't been able to find another like it. Your thoughts please. Thanks in advance.

Is it raised or recessed? Most "dots" that appear are die chips and nothing done intentionally or accidently. They are just small pits/chips in the die with a rust spot or a chip coming off the die. Those kinds would be raised on the coin. A recessed "dot" would be another matter.

A raised dot would "normally" be a rust pit or die chip, especially where that one is.

I wonder if it's the top part of the dot in the center of the line below CANADA? Or part of the dots under the "1" that seem to be missing the full dot? Or from the outer ring? Either way it looks like a misplaced partial dot to me.

A dot doesn't just move around on the die. If it was double struck off center there would be other evidence. It's possibly a die pit, but if you zoom in on it, it seems to only be a corrosion pattern that happens to look round-ish and jumps out at your eye because the surrounding corrosion is dark.

coin looks corroded and severely pitted with "the dot" actually just the uncorroded spot of the field. imo
