canuckelhead Valued Member Canada 54 Posts	Posted 04/05/2023 07:42 am Is this considered a partial collar? I don't think it's PMD but I'm no expert. Not sure how well it shows in the photo but there's a kind of bottle cap effect to the coin. I don't want to repost for grade so could I also ask for grade opinion's F12+ ? canuckelhead Valued Member Canada 54 Posts	Posted 04/06/2023 07:54 am I took another look under the scope and I think weak strike seems the most logical. The rim is a consistent width but not a consistent depth. I went with bottle cap descriptor because of the depth of the obverse rim wall, and that a large % of the denticles seen to be pressed vertically into the rim wall. Could it be a slightly off enter strike creating the effect? Report this Post to the Staff
TerryT Pillar of the Community Canada 818 Posts	Posted 04/08/2023 01:37 am I knew I had one like this, with the deeply set obverse, so took a look and found that I had marked that it had a thin die crack all the way around the leaves of the reverse. I blew up your photo and it looks like your coin has the same die crack. ( most noticeable leaf 1-2-3-9 and 13) Look to see if there is also a die crack along the base of the bust and possibly to the ribbon. One of mine has it and one doesn't. I go along with pressure but is it a die that cracked or did too much pressure crack the planchet ? Don't know. Edited by TerryT 04/08/2023 01:41 am Report this Post to the Staff
