Hello everyone,

Went to a further afield coin shop today and picked up the first batch...

1922 Peace dollar
Four 64 KHDs
Three pre 64 quarters
And some clad proofs (which were free)

For €55 - it was "name your price and I will accept" so I probably could have gone lower...the shop owner was nice and I like to be fair.

This shop has been family run since 1977. There were literally dozens of boxes of coins everywhere. The son of the owner looked for about 15 minutes and came up with these.

Second, went to jewelry shop (9/10 jewelry shops in Italy will not have coins, but will have Italian silver bars priced at double melt; 1/10 will be a vest pocket coin dealers).

Picked up $15 face for €230
$7.50 face in KHDs and $7.50 in pre 64 quarters...a higher proportion than usual of Denver KHDs....

Roma, once again you've done well!
Around here, the only place to find such coins is at "flea markets", and the prices are usually inflated Red Book values.

Thanks everyone.

I feel comfortable with these buys. I couldn't do a full run...a guy wrote me earlier with a kilo (approx. 35 ounces) of KHD and FHDs for €725.

Like I said in my post earlier this week, I think I'm getting some of these from melt buckets but others have been sitting in collections for 20,30,40+ years.

And, I'm more inclined to keep half dollars for the long haul, so some of these quarters and dimes may get repatriated this summer when I am in the u.s.

Looking forward to what else I can find up here....

Appreciate you all reading and commenting.
