Got this in a job lot, will be going to NGC, seems high grade to me. What do you think? Can't find many of these in such nice condition.

I am not knowledgeable enough with tokens to give a grade, but sure looks like pvc there to me. May have evolved into verdigris. My guess, with the pvc/verdigris in the protected areas, and the white fibers, someone had already gone over the surfaces with a qtip/cotton swap.
If it were mine, I'd go back to acetone with it, and may need the help of a rose thorn (or you're preferred method, mine is a lime thorn) to nudge away what can be removed of that pvc.
I do also question the color a bit, more so the obverse.

Nice looking token. Can you provide the weight and diameter?
IMO this will not straight grade at NGC unless it were properly conserved first.

Thanks for the replies. It weighs 3.28 grams and the diameter is 19mm. I actually think mine is a high grade, and worth conserving before submitting. Look at this example that graded MS66, which seems unbelievable, it may be a weak strike but the writing on the canons is barely legible and there are many scratches to the obverse. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25578639...mkgroutmp=no

The location of the remaining verdigris in protected areas along with the current color suggests this has been cleaned at some point. Find someone local for a second opinion before sending this off for submission.

I concur with the AU-58 grade for this typical sharp strike. Also, the verdigris issue should be addressed for conservation of this otherwise attractive piece. I'd NOT submit a piece like this to NGC. IMHO, that'd be money down the drain. This is a very common CWT variety. Tokens like this in NGC holders, graded MS-63 or less, can be gotten at shows for under $80 apiece. I bought a few as such, last month. Regarding that so-called NGC MS-66 CWT being peddled for $300, IMHO it's over-graded. I'm no fan of NGC. I've seen far too many of their slabbing "errors" over my many years of collecting tokens. Buy the coin/token, NOT the slab!
