The obverse is stained (and makes me dizzy (more then usual)
the reverse has been sanded down to the zinc core.

As you mentioned, just damage. Sometimes it isn't possible
to find out exactly how it happened but it doesn't really
matter, damage is damage.

Stained obverse, abraded reverse. Coin may have been hastily cleaned at one point.
