I'll say G details (severely cleaned).

might make VG however I agree with coinfrog. the coin was cleaned and most likely polished so the coin would not grade straight
looks like small date 1820

Thanks guys! I didn't think that it would grade much higher than G06. The actual color on the coin is a solid, dark brown and doesn't show any cleaning. I don't know why my scope makes the color so odd. In-hand the coin doesn't show any reflections or luster...it's just dark, dull chocolate brown. Maybe I can get a pic in natural light. I'll see what I can do. I only acquired this because it is a Newcomb N2 MM and I thought that was pretty cool.

just for the heck of it try using your phone instead to see if it captures the color your seeing
1. if coin is in holder, remove coin from holder if possible
2. turn off flash
3. place coin on flat surface with indirect natural light. maybe a window sill in a cloudy day. Use a black or white background to avoid any reflective color
4. move phone about 3in from coin
5. zoom in using your fingers until the coin comes into focus and fills the cameras view finder. if your phone has a portrait selection use that and then press and hold on the coin in the view finder to AF lock it
6. hold phone steady. if you cant then place something on either side of the coin (like books) at that distance and lay phone between them. this will hold it steady and allow you to zoom and take the photo without any blurring

Great idea Panzaldi but, we only have a little Consumer Cellular phone that only does phone calls. We keep it for the rare times that my Husband or I go somewhere without one another - which is rare. I'll keep trying with my Canon and see if that works. The scope showed the details where the darkness of the coin couldn't with my camera. Practice makes perfect! It's a cloudy day here so I'll have to try it tomorrow. Oddly, the volcanic dust from Russia may be blocking some of our wonderful sunshine. It was just on the news.

the small date is more desirable than the large date so it the coin grades straight and is not cleaned as it appears then it has a little better value
i think the hits near star 1 and the right side of the date may be original planchet related
i have a canon and dont use it for photos as I'm not good enough to get good results but I'm not a photographer and have no idea how to use it so my phone is the go to. cant help you there. if you attempted to edit the coin and change the look I would not do that also.
