Hello,

Over the past six months I have had about $80 FV of Washington quarters made available to me. I buy at a very reasonable price and I am comfortably in profit.

I find a lot of 50s and early 60s WQs in great condition. The pre 1950 quarters are usually worn and the few (maybe 10 or less) pre 1940 ones are well worn.

My question is ... If I am looking to sell WQs this summer to get into a half ounce of gold or otherwise... Do WQs from the 50s and 60s trade strictly at bullion price? Or is there any added premium for AU coins? I have to imagine they sell at bullion prices; if I am finding dozens in Italy they must be very common in the u.s.

The reason I am looking to sell is a lack of interest in the design... I like MDs a lot and I really like halves, but WQs and RDs (I have about $5-7 FV of these) don't particularly appeal to me... Below are two samples of what I mean...

Thanks everyone! Again and again!

Generally, they sell for bullion price no matter the condition if the collection is mixed. I would separate the uncirculated coins and sell as a BU roll as they fetch a premium.

I agree. If not uncirculated, all but a handful are just worth melt in circulated grades. BO-ring series.

Agreed that most US collectors and dealers would consider those bullion coins with little to none numismatic premium up to AU condition.

However truly mint state examples should command a premium if you have any.
