At my age, I only wish I had the time to spend that you wither away on this project, with no conceivable academic or financial goal. No offense, just sensless to me.
As far as impaired proof coins I know that I have found them, but only set aside the ones that looked dang near perfect. I will look and see how many I have set aside. It is not many.
One mega post seems okay for organizing. You could also make occasional separate posts, and then have a dedicated index post that you update. Sort of like a blog-in-a-forum thing.
I create a mega post after my next search and keep everything in there.
I made a logo today for my channel along with business cards with a QR code to my channel. I'm going to spend some time at some local coins shows and drop off cards to the local coin shops. The channel might be a good way to engage kids and local coin roll hunters to follow along and keep this hobby alive and well.
Very cool that you made business cards, nickelguy88... I keep promising to do that as my little ebay business has flourished the past four months as I've done a lot of thinking outside the box in terms of what to sell and how to sell it...
I've thought of doing my own thread too, but I do all the denominations, so it's more fun for me personally to just keep on posting on the individual ones... I'm hoping to get to 1.75 million nickels searched by the end of 2023 and 2 million by mid next year...

Coinfrog, everyone has their own passions... I've got a very busy life now, but I still manage to fit my CRH in. It's not always about the money - it's about doing something you enjoy and that you're passionate about... Coins have been my passion since I was five years old... I only wish I had gotten this heavily involved in CRH earlier in life... The past 7 1/2 years I've been able to educate so many people (mostly bank tellers) about coins - their history and what is actually worth collecting... sometimes I'll run into a teller who has their own coin find stories to share with me... the interactions with people and the joy that CRH has given me the past 7 1/2 years is something money can't buy - I wouldn't trade it nor the friends I've made through it for all of the money in the world, tbh.
Now that I have this new full-time job, I've actually been educating my co-workers... many have shown an interest... one of them has become a very good friend thanks to her kids having an interest in coins. You never know what kind of doors coins can open.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!
John77 the number of nickels that you have went through is absolutely incredible. I am not sure if I can search fast enough to catch up! Have you kept a tracking log or data on how many that you have found?
Coinfrog, no offense taken. When I get into a hobby I go all in. I am originally from a small town surrounded by many rivers and creeks. Fishing is truly my passion, particularly pike and muskies. I now live in the city and fishing everyday is just not something that I can realistically do at this point in my life unfortunately. Coin Roll Hunting is filling that void. My wife enjoys it too so that helps tremendously. I'm looking at this nickel journey as another chapter in my life and am going to enjoy it to the fullest that I can.
The next 10,000 nickels arrive Tuesday afternoon and I am eager to get going on them.
For my birthday this year I am going to order 25,000 and do a power search through them. I should be able to time my schedule up for a long weekend in November and work on them over a couple of days.

Thank you... it's a labor of love and persistence... my family loves it too, by the way!
Yes, I do keep logs of everything - all my daily finds go in these tiny 3.9x3.2 inch spiral notebook - I make spreadsheets just like you do and have them for all the pre-60 Jeffersons, all 2009 Jeffersons, Buffalo, V, and Proof Nickel finds, as well. I do post them on the main thread sometimes just to update everyone as there are a few others who have kept a keen interest in my searching these past several years.

Quote: Also, is it proper etiquette in this forum to create a separate post for every 10,000 searched as I progress along or would it be better if I kept everything inside all one thread?
I merged all your topics into one and adjusted the title. This will make it easier for readers to go back and look at previous progress.
I've started a second book that will be completing along side this initial book as well. Also, I have purchased a lot of clear, plastic coin tubes to help organize my duplicate finds.

Thank you.
