I was quite pleased to win the following in an auction this weekend for a very reasonable price.
Attaway Clinic and Hospital, Ville Platte LA. Radio Token / Dahlberg. Issued w/ 2mm hole in center. 17 mm zinc. R10

"Used to operate a pay radio for a fixed period of time. Issued in the 1940s".

Wow, I was just reading that radios were clamped to patients' beds and loved ones would purchase tokens in the waiting rooms for 10 cents apiece or three for a quarter. The token bought you one hour of radio enjoyment. Looks like these faded out by the mid-1950s when you had portable radios that could be brought for patients by their families/friends. Very cool token. I couldn't find much info about the specific hospital, though.
