This coin was described on another site as "double struck"--but what do you think?
Wouldn't the second strike flatten details from the previous? Since the doubling is of similar relief, I wonder if this a doubled die.
However it would be unusual for that to occur on both sides of this coin.

I think it;s a doubled struck because it;s on the obverse and reverse a great find the seperation is great not that you can;t have a obverse and reverse doubled die but this is a doubled strike because of the intense separation on both sides

This coin is absolutely a double die, and a dramatic one at that. Awesome find! =)

Yeah... it only has 1 border, so I would guess doubled die

I like the little details, such as the doubling of the crown and the tigers tail.
As for the legends, I think the fields would mash down where they overlap letters from the previous strike.
Check out this double-struck Aussie penny--and how much the second strike obliterated the first strike. I find it amazing, but this looks like a DDO / DDR to me.

Looks like a doubled die on each face, with the dies being counterfeits. Either that, or it was photoshopped into looking like a doubled die.
