Well the title is surly hopeful, and that I am! After many hours looking through the scope and combing online sources, there are no known DDOs for the 1965P dime. But I do really think this is for sure a DDO in 3 or 4 locations. Rather than list all that I have seen, I'm wondering if others see the same features as I have seen. What if it is .

I think it looks more like polishing off part of the die.

Thank you for the feedback Cujohn! I need to look deeper into that potential cause.

I does appear to be a polishing around the portrait. There is a name for it, but can't seem to think of it yet..

Well after having this dime looked at by another it has been determined the DDO features I thought were present are from a die clash and the abrasion to eradicate them.

Hope this follow-up helps others understand what I was confused on in thinking this dime was an unknown DDO. Never know till you know.

Wexler only has one listed for that year

No listing for that year on Variety Vista
http://www.varietyvista.com/07%20Ro...Listings.htm

As mentioned, it is die abrasion on that area of the die. When part of the die gets polishing into the deeper design, the edge can be affected and make it raised on the coins struck with die. But the die was altered post creation of the die. So it is not hub doubling, but a reduction on the area next to the fields. Don't happen often. Only when the disk moves over/into the void area of the die.

If these marks match up to a clashed die issue, that can also alter an area of the die, that would be hard to fix on the die.

(they hope no one with notice, or they didn't notice it) It may have been clash induced. You have to consider that the dies during a clash can rotate and affect other areas that would normally not be a clash mark, except of the rotation issue. Either way is if not a doubled die issue. Just an altered die post die creation that was altered by a die event.

It appears the obverse doubling is MD. It is not only apparent on the profile, but also on some of the letters of LIBERTY.
