This one just arrived. Just a common circ coin but as I always do, I love to imagine someone holding this in their hand in 1847, when it was a fresh UNC coin and using it to buy something at the general store, saloon or trading post.

Abraham Lincoln was 38 years old that year, had been practicing law for about 10 years and was beginning to dabble in politics.

Thinking about where a coin has possibly been and what was going on during the time it circulated has always been a fascination with me! Part of the reason I got interested in old coins in the first place as a little kid...
