Is there any particular reason to save all pre1982 LMC's?

Copper, and their melt value are about 1c. When copper was up, they were ~2.5c.
There's actually quite a few people buying cents at around 3c each just for their copper.

I'd love to find someone willing to pay even 2¢ each. They could have all of mine for that price.

Aside from the possible melt value, try https://www.coppercoins.com
You may have lots of valuable coins not normally looked for by most since they don't know what to look for.
And melt value is sort of a joke. People can say melt value is xxx but when you try to sell such coins for that, just where do you do that? Coin stores and coin dealers will not give you that so called melt price. So just where do you get melt value?
Of course many just throw in those coins with wire for a metal recycler.
