Lincoln cents for sure, but those State Quarters might be the most popular currently collected coins by newer collectors with little to no idea about the rest of this hobby.

I say cents because you can find many of them in circulation and when you add all of them up,(if getting from circulation) its a very cheap collection to half.

Lincoln cents due to being relatively inexpensive except for a few.

Pretty much available to everyone in the country and you never know when you'll get a keeper in change somewhere.

I think the most collected coin should be the Morgan dollar (maybe I show partiality but the cent just doesn't spark any interest in me what so ever)

Lincoln Cents, but I also think it should be the Morgan silver dollar.

I voted for the cent, but I would imagine the Statehood Quarters thing is giving them a run for the money in sheer numbers. But I am unsure if most of the people who amass the quarters could really be considered collectors.

Definitely the Lincoln Cent. It's the least expensive, quite common to find in pocket change, and it has an obverse design that has lasted for 100 years. Who didn't collect the Lincoln Cent before they started to collect other series.

Cent coins just because of the sheer volume. But I think another interesting question would be "As a percentage of coins in circulation, which coin is the most popular?"

Cents--because it's easy to start a collection from circ coins.
