I think it depends on your needs. In the near future there is a lot of uncertainty in the market. I think the Fed will raise rates again which will be bad for PMs in the short term (Powell has painted himself into a corner). Of course, that could create more bank issues which would drive PMs up. So, looking into my crystal ball, based on the environment today, I see short term PM prices falling but long term I remail very bullish (by year end).

I hear that and second that motion. For me selling my silver is like wandering into a nettles patch along a creek bottom easy to get into and hard to get the burn out. Hang onto that silver with both fists.

Off-topic note that may save some of you a bit of pain: Quote: wandering into a nettles patch along a creek bottom easy to get into and hard to get the burn out The sap of Impatiens / jewel weed / touch-me-not will relieve the pain of stinging nettles, and it is almost always found nearby.

Definately go with ebay. you'll get the highest price for your silver. LCS should be last resort.

Quote:Definately go with ebay. you'll get the highest price for your silver. LCS should be last resort. Yes, you may gross the highest amount but it might not be the highest net amount. After ebay and Paypal fees and the possible tax hit, it may not net out to be more. And don't forget the possibility to get scammed or the very favorable return policies that favor the buyer. If the spot price tanks in under 6 months, the buyer can ask for a return no questions asked (unless the return policy changed). I am aware there may be tax implications depending on what you sell and what state the transaction occurs. There are pros and cons to any of the methods already described in this thread, but making a blanket statement like this may end up with a transaction being less than ideal for some.

There are no more PayPal fees in addition to ebay selling fees. There is just the ebay fee and ebay keeps all of it. Last time I sold something (not bullion but an auction), the fee was 15%.

Good to know. So if we take the 15% right off the top, ebay is taking $150 for themselves on a $1k sale? Ouch. That alone would give me pause, but the $600 reporting requirement, potential for lost packages or buyers scamming you and it makes it an easy decision to look at other options.

I am just a small seller so that is my typical fee. The fees do scale so for a $1000 item, it might be in the low teens. The big sellers do/must have a much more favorable rate plus they get much better volume rates on shipping and insurance. Right now a Buffalo from Liberty is about $2100. If I were to sell one I'd net around $2100 less 250 for ebay and less 50 for insured shipping, or $1800. I am sure the big dealers net much more than that otherwise why in the heck would they do that.
