This beauty was advertised as an AU, and after close inspection I would tend to agree

I love the toning, which is lightly iridescent. Still need a 20 and 40 centavos to complete the type set.

According to my Krause, there were millions made of this type of coin, yet the are quite rare and valuable. Is this due to the majority being melted for some reason?

Thanks guys! I'm loving it.

Archaz - I wondered the same thing, especially when you compare it with the 40 centavos, which has about the same price range and less than 1/10th the mintage.
I can only assume that the vast majority were melted or just lost to the ages.
They certainly do not come up nearly as often as they would if 8+ million of them existed today.
