1969 S Weird Back , Thoughts ? (Cent)

Grease plugs the highest points in the die leaving only the flatter, wider bases of the devices. It would be far more bizarre (read: impossible) if these letters were actually missing from the die, since the hub transfers the entire design to the die blank, not just one letter at a time.
