So I've seen a couple errors posted, the one I have I'm not sure is a known error or not.
It's located on the front, the 3 in the year, is barely visible except in light. If there is a shadow on the quarter, you can only see 202. I'm just not sure that is something to cause any excitement.

It is very common. Best to post obverse and reverse photos along with one or two close ups where and when needed.I am not sure if it is a grease issue or what.

@err, first welcome to CCF. Second, it could be a little grease in the die which prevented that last digit in the date from fully striking.

Your second image is almost too dark to tell for certain what is going on here. and the first is a little out of focus.
Possible Grease Filled Die. but maybe damage from a vending machine. (need better images)
Can you provide a close up of the date?

Sorry for the image issues, the phone I'm using has a really cheap camera in my opinion, the second photo I purposefully did with a shadow, to show how illegible the 3 is. Thanks for the advice, I'll try and get some better pics and post both sides.

Based on this other example confirming it, you have a Struck Through Grease filled die. @Dearborn - Generally the main mechanical damage I've seen from older vending machines causes a slanted last digit.

There are also errors called a Struck Through Grease filled die (or just "filled die") error.". Grease strike throughs are very common for the most part, they're probably the most common error type besides laminations, and in the past normally only grease strikes which have obliterated large areas of the coin have any decent added value. The exception are coin series which are rarely found with errors of any kind. An example would be a 5 oz America the Beautiful coin, which is a series rarely found with any type of errors. But even for a coin like that, the strike through needs to be fairly large to really add much value. At the moment all these grease strike throughs including the minor ones are however generally selling for a small premium despite some being quite common, and some are more popular than others such as the 2005-p kansas in god we rust from , and obviously when enough is missing to entice some of the more serious collectors is where the values tend to be higher.

Awesome, thanks for all of your answers and advice. So it's an error, just one that is commonly found. So not really worth a whole lot. But it's cool to know how that happens. My luck is the kind that I find cool coins, but they are either the wrong mint or 1 year off. But I enjoy the hunt more than anything. You never know when you'll find that one coin that'll change your kids lives.
