Well, nobody got this one, few were close! In hand, the coin looks pretty close to PCGS TV pics, though the fields aren't as PL as the photos. As far as hits, the lower jaw hit is the most prominent, though not as obvious as my images make it look. The rest of the cheek marks are pretty light breaks in the frost, same for the neck, less obvious in hand and pretty superficial. Fields are pretty clean, some discoloration in the obverse fields K7-K9 that detracts a hit, but less obvious in hand. A few light hits to the reverse fields above the eagle in the usual spot. I had this at a solid MS65 with a really good chance at MS66 (only reason I'd send in a common date) and looks like PCGS agreed. Paid just over $100 raw at a coin show last year.  |

That was a good eye and a good buy! Goes to show that even "common" Morgans can be lucrative.

I strongly disagree with MS-66.
I will also say:
Lucky you !
Sell it to a collector who trusts the slab grading, especially in view of the fact that
"but acquired it cheap".
Buy a true unslabbed MS-66 instead, even cheaper, if you can grade confidently at MS-66 for yourself .
Refer to photograde Morgan for MS-66 to review your judgement, before committing to the purchase.
Lots of collectors are disappointed when a coin submitted comes back, which they feel has been under graded.
But also, most collectors are very happy and feel lucky, when a coin comes back which they vaguely suspect may have been over graded.

The ones who have seen the coin in hand, including @Ty2020b and PCGS, obviously thought a 66 was justified. Not to say that everyone would agree, but a 66 seems closer to reality than a 63. |
