I thought bout bidding on this but did the price just climbed out of what I was willing to pay. I bought from this seller before and he posts scans that make the color muted. I can't 100% tell what the coin looks like but he has a return privilege so I am happy to see in hand.
Sold for $928. Thoughts? Thanks!

No way to judge the surfaces from those photos, so all I can judge is the sharpness, which is around AU53.

A rim hit from another coin is seen in the horizontal shield lines on the reverse, and possibly an issue on the obverse shield as well at LIBERTY (a nick at B, and some odd marks below BER?)

If those photos are even remotely accurate it looks like it went for an excessively long swim in the dip jar - no luster, chalky white appearance.

Hard pass for that kind of money (if it were me) with those photos, return privileges notwithstanding.

Price seems steep to me. At a minimum, it's over dipped. Potential bigger issues in the fields surrounding the date and over Liberty's right shoulder. Can't tell whether they are scratches or die polishing. AU50 Details.

Looks like a dipped out AU piece but the pics are greatly over-exposed so you never know. Coins with that color don't do much for me so here's to hoping it's better in-hand. And there's a fair chance it will be better than what we see here.

Scans hide most small nicks and scratches.
That makes it very hard for a buyer to properly assess any coin in the MS-60 to -66 condition range. Thus, It also makes it easier to give a seller who posts scans a safe miss.
Far better if digital photographs with good lighting are posted instead.

boy if I was selling a $1000 coin I sure would want the best photos I could get to get the most for it. the photos make the coin look like it was over dipped. glare and scanning can hide a lot of little things as described already. low to mid AU. cant tell if she grades straight. if you did make that comment I would have detailed it
