Hi,

My mother asked me to see if her coin collection was worth anything.

She had marked this coin as a 1941, but it looks odd, so I was hoping to get some help!

Clarity on the year and if it is a coin error would be fantastic!

I'll say 1944, with the last digit damaged.

@kit, first welcome to CCF. Second, when the last digit of the date is "smushed" at an angle, we usually ascribe this type of mechanical damage to this cent having been used in a gum ball machine. We see it quite often and unfortunately detracts from the value. On the other hand, circulated common date wheat cents are only worth a few times face value to start with.

I agree it's a damaged 1944 cent - worth 2 to 3 cents.
