I obtained it years ago and may have posted the topic here or elsewhere with no resolution at the time. The holder was marked "Mystery Date?" So don't be embarrassed, they've been causing confusion for a couple of decades now. I've never seen any explanation as to what they actually are, or who, why or when they were made. In the old thread I linked to above, the Israeli mint denies it's one of their products. I can only assume they were privately made in Israel some time in the 1960-1983 period, back when normal 1 agora coins resembled this. The only theory I have is they were made by someone wishing to celebrate/commemorate the peace treaty with Egypt in 1979 - "shalom" meaning both "peace" and "hello" in Hebrew. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff

I can explain that: I have so been busy working on so many others, this piece has was just set aside.
