I have seen a lot of numismat posts about how they are looking for a 1909 VDB cent. I thought it was a rare coin, but I see it very often at auctions and the circulation of this coin is 27 million pieces. What is the value of this coin? Or have I missed an important detail?

It is the S mint mark that is more valuable.

A business strike 1909 VDB cent is rather common and worth about $5 in average circulated condition (VF/XF). You have not missed any important details about the coin.

The Proof strike coin, or the 1909 VDB minted in San Francisco are much more desired and valuable.

Yep, jbuck got the list for you.
I fairly sure that 27 million people have at least one 1909 VDB cent.. (the other 995,000 lost to falling in the curb, getting damaged, reclaimed by the mint, or just plain lost...)

That's right, I completely forgot about the mint marks. That's exactly the detail I missed. Thank you all for your help.
