I am collecting franklin halfs for my whittman folder and during my search found some proofs for a few dollars more, so my question is: where did the proofs came from? did the mint just sell them in proof sets or did they also sell them individually? I am collecting the proofs and preserving them in capsules in blank caps album pages

Proof sets from 1950 to 1963 had Franklyn half dollars. I enjoy cameo proof franklin's so I have a graded set.
