I think I've gotten better at authenticating these, but this one has been a challenge for me ....

The blue tint coloring is throwing me off and the coin feels gritty in hand. It is about 35-38 mm and about 26 g.

Thoughts would be appreciated!

I don't own David Sear's Byzantine Coins and their Values, but based on examples I see in the fake coin databases, this might be a match for F17 (Forgery 17) listed in that book.

Thanks Kam. I googled the examples of F17 and I think you are right.

I have not bought this coin and it has sat in a shop through a few discounts (items in used shops in Rome discount after 60;30;30 days) which means buyers who are usually on point on these type coins aren't biting.
