@ Capt. I am well pleased by the Mike answer for your coin.
As I state this appear to be man made at the Mint. Do will be Graded? Yes. And this because the really origin could be not proved. Original Dies, only Mint has. On the 2003 horizontal presses to be happened, is very hard to believe, but on Vertical press yes.
Jon referee at fake slabs and not fake coins in fact. Those fake slabs are very easy to spot because used stickers used before the coin year strike, the fonts are not same and the descriptions do not follow the graders narratives. Many peoples talk about fake coins, some are already explained sometimes but left many more to be explain. PCGS forum ask me to show my list of 60 fake classic Gold coins, I will do and also share here.
I am glad CAPT for you. send to PCGS with Mike answer and explanation als VAN and will be OK.

Quote: Original Dies, only Mint has. That's just not true. Silverstone had dies and so have others. It's 100% fact that he was making coins similar to this. He had at least a New York and Florida die. I've been learning a good bit about this the last week.

Bobby: if him has original Die, so we must have an photo of this Die. I want to see the number and the code on the Die. No original Die could go out of the Mint or Reserve. If you can have those photos I can tell you in minute if it is original or not that Die. If him obtain the original Design and has an CNC, this it is other story. But if was like this to day will be out of the society from long time and long time to come, as the fake slabs stickers in Canton China, Left just Hong Kong.
I have original Dies but cancelled. A few members here can confirm I have.

Sure, criminals always distribute proof freely. Believe it or don't I really couldn't possibly care less.

A question did occur to me. Are there any markers that can match die 1 with die 2-4? It seems to me that a counterfeit shop probably wouldn't be able to strike a perfect U.S. Quarter. So they would probably start with a legal tender Florida State Quarter from the U.S. Mint and then strike it three more times with their own dies and equipment. Also, I am curious about the palm trees. They stick up far from the surface. The second strike ship obviously drove deeper than the first strike palm trees. Under U.S. Mint forces and speeds (which means tremendous kinetic energy), wouldn't that immediately have left a huge palm tree die clash into the ship cutout? Or at least have crushed the palm trees completely to the level of the ship sails? Something had to give there. But if it were done more slowly or with less force, maybe that wouldn't result in a clash. I am no expert, I am just asking questions here. A coin is much softer than a die face, obviously. It just seemed odd and I was hoping to understand better.

Brand, the only possibility I see here it is: Mike confirm is original Die and him has all the officials designs. The only time to use a Die it is before enter the production. Once enter in the chain, is no way someone to has that Die and used Dies are canceled after go out of the parameters.
After a Die is produce, go to be hardened in very strict environments (Always 3 to 4 witnesses), then go in the storage Hardware and test Lab. Me I see there was possible produce those errors. To corrupt so many peoples I do not believe because we discuss about: operators, managers, Security and engineers.
In 2001 when the last new presses was installed, with all the clearances, approves and etc., I past 2 and 1/2 hours to pass the security to the new lines. The workers their, come at work, go naked, pass room and then took uniforms. I do not believe someone can took out a pair of original Dies. We will see the follows

If a 225 pound gold coin can be stolen from a museum with state of the art security and never be recovered, I'm sure dies can get out of the mint. Man made errors get out all the time.

Dies for Gold Coins Missing, US Mint Admitshttps://apnews.com/article/adc02a0d...fe8c6ca6d924Note the article also says... "75,000 dies are shipped around the country each year. They are made in Philadelphia and sent to regional mints, depending on production schedules."So do the delivery drivers have to get naked too? Stop with the nonsense. Things are stolen from the mint. A huge hoard of man made errors were smuggled out in the oil pans of forklifts going out for service. Can't put dies in there too? One last question.... Too many people probably knew about all the gold dies going missing to cover it up.... How much stuff you think goes out the door that they don't admit?

Back when I worked in an R&D lab, people kept stealing the tubes of Loctite from the machine shop. Turns out it was the cyclists, who kept it as first aid for cuts on the road.
We kept the gold paste for circuit traces under lock and key, until one day someone swiped the whole supply. They never did figure out who.

This it is an story of mid 1980's. From 1989 I think each Mont produce theirs own Dies. This begun with the use of the CNC. Do we can apply 1986 incident with 2003? Certainly not.
Thieves could happened I do push out this hypothesis, but for new Dies as in this case will be big case.
For moving also the out of production Dies they use today armored special train security companies. Could happened that to be still metallic special lock and seal box to dissipate at theirs facilities? Could be, also Inmates escape from high security facilities. I still skeptical about Reserve and Mint after 2000.
I will not assimilate this theorem from 1986 with 2003. And I invite any can visit the Mint to see what it is the modern security. As visitor you will be monitored as the workers and as visitor you will be at 20 25 feet high with no photo or filming permit. This it is the Mint in the last times.
For me it is enough in this post.

Oy vey..... I give up, you're right nothing can ever be stolen from the Mint. They're invincible. Even though mint assisted errors get out all the time. Oops... sorry... workers have to get naked, I forgot, maybe it's all a dream.
