I am totally unfamiliar with these "SILVER WINNER SERIES" issues. Please note that in the 1st photo, the coin is mounted on a bezel type pendant and attached to the ribbon. In the 2nd photo, there is yet another variety that shows the coin in an air-tight holder and it is not attached to the ribbon. Call me ignorant if you must, but I have never seen or heard of these, obviously, special issues before. I know the total mintage was 174,014, but can anyone shed some information on the rarity of these particular issues and should they command a higher price when selling. Also, does the term 'series' imply that there may be others that I am unaware of? One more point of interest. Both of the boxes are identical, except for the placement of the mint-eagle.

I've never seen these before either. Our member commems may be able to assist with this.

Appears to be a real (not counterfeit or "replica") US Commemorative dollar, but I assume it is third party packaging. Hopefully commems will recognize the packaging vendor.

Quote: I did find this: Yup. That is the US Mint OGP. As I said, I suspect this was offered by a third party. Perhaps they took the OGP design into consideration.

@09rich15: I have a little familiarity with the coins you've shown - I have the same two "sets" in my collection!
I did a bit of research a few years back when I got mine and believed them to be third-party packages vs. US Mint products. I concluded this because the boxes do not have a US Mint logo/name nor do they have the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics logo - either/both of which were present on other Mint products for the Olympics coin program. I also didn't find them in US Mint marketing materials/ads.
I never found exact sales figures for either set, so I can only offer personal observation - they do not appear in the marketplace any where near as often as official Mint Olympic Silver Dollar packages.
That said, I haven't seen them command a selling price premium. The selling prices of the packages I purchased were directly in line with other Olympic coin offerings of silver dollars. There are lots of the LA Olympics SDs out there to choose from, and most collectors do chase packaging options vs. the coins themselves.
I don't believe they proved to be popular enough when issued for additional members of the "series" - I looked, for example, for similar packaging with 1984 silver dollars but never came across any.
I could be wrong with my observations, but wanted to offer them just the same.
Hope that helps a little.
