Interesting, your 1953 has the looped R. The 1953 that's on the Henning Page I put on Error-Ref. com https://www.error-ref.com/henning-c...feit-nickel/is the non-looped R which is a lot harder to find. Do you have a copy of the 1982 book "THE COUNTERFEIT 1944 Jefferson nickel" written by DWIGHT H. STUCKEY (see an image of the book in the link above)?

how long did it take you to collect all these?
I totally forgot all about this variety and motivates me to muddle through all my nickle hoard.

Quote: I now have every year he made: Both Obverses for the 1944; the 1939, 1946, 1947, and now the 1953. Congratulations!

Jcronin I as well have all the all the known henning nickel dates with the looped-R as well as 3 of the dates without the looped-R detail as well. Been collecting for 15 years now started when the common 1944's were selling for $20-$45 depending on details. Crazy how the price has skyrocketed over the years.

Jcronin I'd love to see images of your collection. Any chance I get I like to compare the marking to my coins also. Always looking at details in comparison to try to find new unknown markings to help find the last year that is still unknown. It'll be crazy the day it's found especially if it's a looped-R variety and is the only one known

@ JC Stevens
I'm not sure if you noticed, but my reverse actually does not have the Looped R, but it has the die marker I discovered above the EN in Cents. (It's actually on every Looped R reverse I've seen unless that area is damaged; not on the "Dot" reverse, though. That's why I really think this find is more significant because the Looped R is missing, but the other die markers are there.
How do I reply directly to someone on here?
@ NickelCollector85
I'd be happy to swap images. I'd like to see your 47, 46, and 53 coins to compare markings.

I managed several years back to pick up 2 Copy's of this book signed by the author.. been holding on them cause I know they are hard to come by, the person I snagged them from said he had bought 10 of them when he first released it back in 1982 and these are in mint condition.. not even creased from opening.

Jcronin. I've never messaged anyone directly I just send it under the topic and insert their name indicating who the message is towards. I ended up pulling out my collection of henning nickels and checked all my looped nickels on your indicator and you're right it's on all of them other than a few worn specimen's I have. I also have the dot above the dome and it's not present. Great finding.

For some reason, I can't post any of the photos I took (says they're all too large), there is an option to send an email, but I get an alert saying I can't, and I don't see a "reply" button to directly quote and respond to someone... any suggestions?

Unfortunately you aren't allowed to email until you have built up so many messages on the site.. you can see the amounts for emails in the rules on the main homepage. Also I've never uploaded images on anything other than my phone when you go to image upload it'll give you an option to edit size on the phone. It'll say small medium normal or large. I always go with small then check to see if medium will work. Hope this helps

JCronin, When my images are too large to upload, I use the default Microsoft image viewer and re-size the image down to 600 pixels at 80% quality, and the file size will drop to below 300K. (Works for me every time.) And the images look just great. I use my cell phone to take my images for posting here.

I guess I just don't know what I am doing on this forum. I give up trying to upload photos and reply to posts directly to people
