I believe this is a 1964-D DDO. nose, mouth, chin, ANC's collar all appear to have doubling. Any opinions?

CaseyO, I do not think it is a DDO. Tooling or channeling. John1

Odd. The date on the coin is 1974. That ERef entry says "Retouched details on master and working hubs (1920s to 1940s)". Did the mint also retouch dies after that point? Seems like a better candidate for a design berm, which occur around central elements like busts. https://www.error-ref.com/design-berms/

Quote: @ Brandmeister: That ERef entry says "Retouched details on master and working hubs (1920s to 1940s)". Did the mint also retouch dies after that point? The mint never retouch the Dies only the Hubs and the Master Die. This procedure is happened also today if they are on rush.

Sorry, hubs. Not dies.
So if the Mint still retouched hubs more recently than the 1940s, then channeling is of course a possibility.

Yes it is. the most you will find in Halves, Quarters and Nickels. This do not mean the others denominations will be not done. It is a challenge to see. Very good for this it is Rocky here on the forum.

I appreciate all the opinions, as well as the onboard welcoming. this is all new to me. I started collecting fairly recently, as my grandfather handed down coins to my mother, and she in turn handed them down to me. It piqued my interest once I started looking at some of the coins he had passed down, so I started to try and grow the collection to pass down to my children or grandchildren one day.
