Thanks for that Alex--are these a collectable item and if so do they have a value?

I've had a blip round google but there appears to be very little on 'chuckrums' or 'chackrams'

Given their really tiny size, there's not an awful lot of bullion value behind them. My Krause catalogue (1700's) lists them (KM# 1) as having been made circa 1600 - 1860. With such a wide date range, there must be an awful lot of them around, so there's very little numismatic premium for them. The 2002 edition Krause book I found them listed in gives them a value of $2 in EF.
