I don't see the "spur" on the G, which is the vertical part on the right side that extends down from the bottom. Also the top of the G should not extend to the right as far as the rest of the letter.

I think the 'spur' is hidden in a shadow. But the top of the G terminates before it lines up with the vertical bar, and even though there is a lot of glare, I think I see the horizontal of the G too.
but we really need MUCH better images to be sure either way.

ok, what is your camera set up? Are you zooming in the image then cropping it? if so, all you are doing is distorting and enhancing the pixels and not the coin.

What I do with my images is I use the zoom function of the camera and zoom into 3.5x then I fill the screen with the coin, let it auto focus and snap away, then I save the image and crop it.

Hey BK, I want to give you another option on the physical setup that might help you with producing acceptable photos using a cell phone.
This is just for "Hopefully " making things easier, but its the suggestions
from Dearborn, Silviosi and BrandMeister on the aranging the camera details..Focusing,distance etc etc. that will be important.
Also it is important that what the coin is sitting on is not causing the auto focus of the camera to react to what is just under the coin, say like the desk top or something larger in diameter.
so with this PhotoMacgyver setup and the fellows other info you may get better results.
All you need is a couple of books, cell phone and a bottle cap
